It is hardly news that women are chronically underrepresented in the tech industry. According to the Women in Digital (WID, 2020) Scoreboard, which monitors women’s participation in the European digital economy and society, women are still less likely to have specialist digital skills and work in the technology field compared to men. Workplace cultures of equality, however, have repeatedly shown to be a business imperative, as they are a powerful multiplier of innovation and growth (Accenture, 2019). For economy and society to thrive, it is thus crucial to increase diversity in every aspect of life, including the tech domain.

Fortunately, the technological advancements we witnessed during the past years can help closing the gap. For companies, emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain, are powerful tools that can support them in identifying the right skills and talents and validating professional achievements. For applicants, these technologies can help finding their dream job in tech and companies with the right purpose-culture-match.

DEL4ALL expert Priska Burkard, Co-Founder & Managing Director of TechFace (SKILLS FINDER AG), and her team have early identified the potential of emerging technologies for diversity in tech. In this new DEL4ALL video interview, Priska explains DEL4ALL partner Dr Verena Wottrich from Martel Innovate, how emerging technologies can close the skills gap and increase diversity in tech.
