On 24 June 2021, DEL4ALL organised a workshop on “Learning Software of the Future” at LearnTec xChange, Europe’s #1 event for digital learning, during which the project presented use cases, best practices, and strategic priorities identified to help shaping sustainable and viable learning environments.
The first half of the virtual event kicked-off with an introduction of an e-learning middleware solution in the form of a web-based, open architecture. The Fraunhofer Common Learning Middleware combines different learning management systems and ensures learning tools interoperability. It is a joint development of the Fraunhofer Academy, the Fraunhofer institutes FOKUS, FIT, IML, IOSB and Ziemann.IT Software. The implementation of the middleware was demonstrated during the workshop using typical use cases, which represent the current challenges in companies. Learn more about the tool here.
In the second half of the workshop, DEL4ALL partner Prof Wolfgang Prinz, Fraunhofer FIT, discussed the possibilities of new emerging technologies for education, using examples of blockchain in connection with learning technologies. Prof Prinz highlighted, amongst others, how blockchain can revolutionise certification in education and how the technology can be transferred into practical solutions for teaching and learning. Moreover, he explained how DEL4ALL helps shaping the future of education by gathering European education experts in a participatory and sustainable ecosystem. Find more about our community here.
In the last part of the workshop, DEL4ALL partners Dr Alex Grech, Commonwealth Centre for Connected Learning, and Prof John Domingue, Open University, led a discussion on the potential of emerging technologies for education in a Get-Together-Room.
